Valentines
Day 2011 , Baby's Blue Jeans passed away . Very
sad day at Figure 9 Quarter Horses.
She
was the Queen of the ranch and left us with many
good memories. Rest in Peace old girl.
HER
STORY:
In
1999 Rick Ham purchased Babys Blue Jeans from Sissy
Novak.
She
was being bred to Dr Nick Bar and due to a delay
in paperwork with AQHA it shows Sissy as the breeder
of Sugar Moon Express. Blue Jeans had a few foals
on the ground already but most had been tried on
the track. Sugar Moon Express (Dr Nick Bar)is by
far her standout foal, running a close second would
be Mr. Banana Flit ( Firewater Flit). Laico Ladiesman
( Streak Laico Bird) is her only son at stud and
is heading to the arena for a barrel career as well.
Babys
Blue Jeans was a full sister to the great Martha
Six Moons. His LTE $218,000+ and is sire of over
a million in barrel earners. She was sent to the
races but did not live up to the record her brother
had set , she had 1 win and 1 third in 5 starts
with a speed index of 81. But luck and good genetics
would make her a valuable broodmare.
Our
prize broodmare did not want any special treatment.
She enjoyed life in the pasture with the other mares
and was fairly pushy and would let you know right
quick if she was not happy about something. As she
got older and her foals were proving to be more
valuable she was put in with less mares and mellowed
with age. Big boned , easy keeper, healthy and good
mother she was a perfect broodmare.

2006
She
carried 12 foals 8 of them for us and we flushed
4 embryos, all were born but only 3 survived.
Jud
Little has a 2010 sorrel filly sired by Doc O Mister

The
last pictures we took were for the article Barrel
Horse News did in the Feburary 2011 issue on the
broodmares of the top rodeo horses.
Ironically
that was also the month she left us , 2 /14/ 2011.
She passed in the night and never struggled , most
likely an aneurysm.
Thankfully
we took many pictures of our wonderful broodmare
who only the night before was acting playful and
bossy as always.
